About

ClinCog

ClinCog is a teaching platform for psychopathology and clinical assessment: students work through the same clinical case from three angles - categorical, dimensional, and cognitive - and see how the framework they use changes what they notice. It is written for any instructor teaching psychopathology, not for one course.

It was originally created by Darian Faur for the Introduction to Clinical Cognitive Science module in the Psychology – Cognitive Science programme at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, West University of Timișoara, and has since been generalised so that any psychopathology module can adopt it.

Conceptualization conversations are grounded strictly in each case's written file; the model in the chat cannot invent symptoms, events, or details beyond what's documented. Evaluations (ICD-11 diagnostic criteria, dimensional questionnaires, self-administered cognitive tasks) are static and identical for every student, so what's being assessed is your understanding, not the luck of a conversation.

Your name, ratings, reflections and a copy of your conversations are kept only in this browser, on this device, and you can carry them to another machine with the backup file on the My progress page. The chat is the one exception: each message is sent, without your name, to the language-model company that plays the patient. The how to use page explains which company, and what it does with the conversation.
